How To Change Your Beliefs
A systemized process...
You have beliefs that hold you back.
Everyone does, it's okay.
Here's a simplified way of identifying beliefs, analyzing if they are true or not, and changing them.
Beliefs -> Thoughts -> Actions -> Results -> Feedback
The easiest way to Identify them is actions.
We can see actions.
Let's take the fear of failure.
(keep reading for what belief this actually is)
Lots of people have it.
You move forward until you mess up once then you pull back.
You never quite give anything your full effort because it's easier to cope with that you never actually failed because you didn't really try.
You study hard for a test, blow it, now you don't care anymore.
You try going after getting big online and then it takes long or you get some negative feedback and so you slow down or stop altogether.
"That guy was mean to me!" insert whiny voice
Nobody cares.
This action we can see repeated over and over.
This is how we identify the belief.
Failure is bad.
But is it?
Lets find out.
Here is how we see whether or not it is a true belief.
What's the result?
That is what we look at.
What is the result of believing failure is bad?
You never give anything your full effort.
You try once and then give up.
Because you do this you never succeed at anything, success requires effort.
You never take risks because that means a big probability of failure.
Never ask that girl to marry you.
Never start fun hobbies.
How is life looking over the course of a few months?
A year?
A decade?
Bleak, at best.
That is a the feedback part.
I don't know though, maybe you like that idea of playing things safe all the time and just living an average life.
I'm not judging, but that's not me, and if you are reading this, it's probably not you either.
So,
Is failure bad?
Well, it got me negative results.
No.
NEW BELIEF:
Fear of failure is bad.
Failure is good.
Now we rewrite the belief.
This takes work, and some things work better for different people.
But one that will always work is action. Again.
Then we run the program and analyze it just like before.
We run a test period.
2 months.
We shoot all the shots.
Ask out all the perfect 10s.
Study for every test.
Do not give up on our dreams after the first attempt.
Bet on your new belief for 2 months.
What happens?
Evidence. Proof.
You get some of those dates.
You begin to succeed.
We continue running the new program.
We learn.
Failure is not bad.
Failure is good.
This works for any belief.
